Natural Rider Mecate Reins are handmade in New Zealand by experienced Ropesmiths. At 22ft (6.7m) long, they are made from heavyweight Equi rope developed and refined over more than twenty years of rope making. The weight and feel make them suitable for use as both reins and a lead rope in one continuous piece.
 
Commonly used with bosals or slobber straps, available separately. Built to last decades.
 
For those who prefer a lighter weight rope, we also offer the Mecate Reins in mediumweight 10mm wide rope or with a decorative tassel.
