Grass Affected Support Consultation: whether it’s minerals, diet, sugars, or mycotoxins, I can help identify what’s driving the issue.
I work with horses, ponies, and donkeys who are reacting to grass and pasture in ways that don’t make sense on the surface. These are the horses who change with the season, flare on certain paddocks, look “wired” or dull, get footy, itch, blow up, head flick, scour, hold fluid, or just don’t seem right, no matter what you try.
This is individual support with me, Tracy. It’s not a course, and it’s not generic advice. Grass-affected horses can be incredibly frustrating because the signs can look random, and people around you may act like you’re imagining it. You’re not. When a horse is reacting, there is a reason, and it can be found.
The aim of this consultation is to work out what’s driving your horse’s reactions and put practical steps in place to reduce the load and stabilise them. That can include sugars and pasture growth patterns, mineral balance, hay choice, dietary triggers, environmental stressors, and mycotoxins. We’re looking for patterns, pressure points, and what can realistically be changed.
How this consultation works......
You’ll start by completing a detailed questionnaire so I can get a clear picture of your horse’s history, current situation, management, diet, environment, and any relevant veterinary information you already have.
Once I’ve reviewed this, I’ll evaluate your horse’s situation and get back to you by email or phone, whichever you prefer.
You’ll receive a guided management plan tailored to your horse. This can include forage and diet recommendations, grazing and pasture management, hay selection, mineral considerations, whether a dry lot or track setup is appropriate, and how to reduce ongoing triggers.
Where relevant, we’ll discuss what information would actually help clarify the picture, what to ask your vet about, and which tests might be useful depending on what your horse is showing. If mycotoxins are a likely piece of the puzzle, we’ll talk through common sources, seasonal risk patterns, and practical ways to reduce exposure and support your horse’s system.
Just as importantly, this consultation supports you as the owner. Grass-affected horses can make you feel like you’re constantly second-guessing yourself because the goal posts keep moving. You don’t have to do that on your own. This is about clarity, reassurance, and a steady plan that you can follow in real life.
Response time
I do my best to respond as quickly as possible, but depending on workload it may take up to a day for me to get back to you. Taking the time to properly review each horse’s situation means responses are thoughtful rather than rushed.
