Why We Recommend Not To Hard Tie!

Our big girl, Cleo, had an awful choke episode last night. This is the result of a big pull-back incident during her transportation to us, after the truck broke down and she was left on it for many hours as a youngster. 😡
I could murder the transporter for being so thoughtless every time she suffers with one of these very distressing events, as their actions have caused her so much pain with an esophageal injury that will plague her for life.
I ask myself why they didn't use a safe tie too many times to list here.
We've had the vet out many times to assist, and I've also learned to help her through these very worrying episodes with a mixture of flaxseed oil and myofascial massage to her throat, and luckily so far over the past 8 years she has been in our care it has worked.
I dread the day it doesn't.
This, and the many other pull-back events I'm aware of, drove me to develop our Natural Rider Safe Tie System, which is below ifor anyone who wants to learn more.
I hope Cleo’s experience raises awareness about the dangers of hard tying horses and encourages the use of safe tie’s to avoid this happening, as a horse panicking on the end of a lead rope can cause such catastrophic injuries, and it only takes a moment to create a lifetime of upset for the poor horse, with some doing detrimental damage to their bodies and minds in the process.
I sincerely hope none of you ever have to go through the aftermath of nursing a scared horse who is choking, as it’s truly devastating to watch the trauma these poor animals go through, all because a silly human being didn't think of what could go wrong!
As annoyed and frustrated with the transporter company as I am, please don’t ask me to name and shame them, as that’s not what we are about and two wrongs never make a right. Instead, we would encourage you to make inquiries to all transporting companies prior to using them and request that they use a safety tie device to avoid this type of incident happening to your horse.
