TRACK GRAZING IDEAS-TRACK POSTS:

We actively encourage horse owners to use tracked grazing, as it helps with so many issues to combat our highly toxic/sugar laden NZ ryegrass situation, as well as provides freedom and exercise so there is a multitude of benefits from setting up a paddock paradise looped grazing system.
And as part of that we are always looking for better ways to make tracks, and wanted to share these fab new posts that we are using with you.
They come in packs of ten and the 1.2m sizes cost about $160 plus $11 for a pack of 20 clips. We are using them alongside normal pigtail standards for our current track and are seeing genuine benefits from them that make a track semi permanent and much more stable.
We were just about to have some fixed wooden posts put in to our track after getting fed up with standards falling over in the wet but were initially hesitant as we didn't really want permanent posts left in as we take our track down in winter due to mud, so we found these at the right time, as by using these we get the best of both worlds.
They can be banged into the ground to offer good support, yet with a little persuasion they can also be removed....plus they are ideal for all those miniature horse tearaways who go under fences as they can accomodate several levels of tape/wire too.
I’m not sure how to buy them online as we bought ours from our local farm store but they are made by a company called Gallagher.
So, if you are considering a track or just want to stabilise what you have already, these are well worth a look.
If anyone else has any ideas for tracks please feel free to share as we love hearing ideas on how you are managing your NZ horse.
