Casper is not just any horse; he’s a brave soul who has triumphed over incredible challenges. Once plagued by displaced behaviours due to harsh treatment that left him with hyper-vigilant fear syndrome, Casper had faced a world filled with anxiety and panic. This prolonged fear took a toll on his emotional health and physical well-being, leaving him in desperate need of urgent care.
Fortunately, his story took a turn for the better when a kind-hearted lady bought him and recognised that he needed more than just training; he required trauma rehabilitation.
With Casper's best interest at in heart, she donated him to our sanctuary, where his healing began.
Here, in a more natural environment that promotes recovery, Casper has slowly but steadily flourished. The peaceful surroundings and thoughtful living conditions have significantly contributed to his transformation.
However, perhaps the most vital ingredient in his journey has been the herd he now calls home.
This bunch of waifs and stray horses have become a loving family to him, providing the emotional support and a sense of safety that Casper always needed.
Many horses like Casper thrive when they can engage in their natural behaviours. The freedom to live outdoors in a herd—even if it’s just with one fellow equine—creates a sense of belonging that is essential for their well-being.
In this community, Casper is not just surviving; he’s rediscovering the joy of life, one day at a time.
