Grass Affectedness Cannot Be Cured By Magnesium, Probiotics or Homeopathic Remedies!

We are posting this article as we are still seeing so much confusion and erroneous info being given about this condition......
Mycotoxins found in New Zealand pastures are the single biggest risk to horses who are grass affected, as they attack the horse's central nervous system, causing a plethora of unwanted symptoms that affect the horse's health and behaviour.
To address this part of the grass problem, the horse needs to receive an effective detox formula that will mop up these offending toxins by absorbing them into itself before being absorbed by the horse's stomach lining, preventing any damage or effects.
So, to address a few myths about this let’s talk about Magnesium:
Whilst magnesium has been traditionally used to help calm horses, unfortunately, it is not capable of absorbing toxins in any way, shape or form and therefore has no effects on the prevention or recovery of mycotoxin poisoning for a toxic horse.
PROBIOTICS: Probiotics are excellent for digestive health for our horses, if fed with the probiotics food source, which is called Prebiotics, however, they too have no absorbent properties to bind mycotoxins, as they are made up of good bacteria which have no purpose to absorb plant toxins.
HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES: We love Homeopathic remedies and acknowledge they can play an excellent part in helping with many health issues in horses. They are normally made from natural ingredients including plants and their extracts, but again unfortunately these are not capable of absorbing plant toxins as they do not contain any properties capable of mopping up or preventing mycotoxin effects.
We have found hands down, after more than 15 years of research in this area, that the most effective ingredient to use to absorb plant toxins within the horse's body is called glucomannan, which is a natural yeast cell wall extract that cloaks the toxin cell within a protective barrier so it can not affect the horse and then can be harmlessly passed away in the manure. This has the greatest effect at mopping up plant toxins and therefore due to this, we include it in high quantities in our heavily subsided EquiProtect grass protection formula.
As a horse sanctuary, we have developed these affordable products as they prevent grass-affected horses from becoming unwanted rescue horses, helping them to return their behaviour to normal and then go on to become happy equines enjoyed by their riders. So, it’s a win for all concerned to provide these preventive supplements.
Please feel free to pass this information around to prevent more horses from getting ill from grass toxins and to stop owners from getting injured by being told false information.
