Laminitis and Grass Affectedness:

Updated: Jul 17

Laminitis Information New Zealand
Grass Can Cause A Lot Of Problems For Horses, Including Laminitis and Unwanted Behaviours

Today is a high-risk day for our horses to develop laminitis and high levels of grass affectedness, which is due to wet soils and warmish weather, which equals high sugars in the grass + high levels of mycotoxins growing within pastures.

Therefore, today is a day to severely restrict your horse's grass intake and feed them plenty of low-sugar meadow hay, preferably from slow-feeder hay nets to replicate natural grazing patterns...and increase your dose rates of Equi-Protect to help them cope with these higher toxins.

We hope that sharing this message will help to save more horses from developing laminitis or suffering due to eating high amounts of poisonous mycotoxins and plant sugars
